Of course it should be checked if the sources are trustworthy. Usually there is a program already installed, but there are various available on the internet.
CKAN KERBAL SPACE PROGRAM INSTALL
To install the content of a ZIP archive a program to unzip is required. The sample subassemblies are installed in the "Subassemblies" folder in save folders, of course. These are not installed in "Gamedata" folder, but in "Ships/SPH" or "Ships/VAB" folders. So unless the root directory is not named GameData it is always good to look if there is a GameData directory in the root directory.įor example some addons contain sample craft. There are also some cases in which the root directory of the zip is itself containing a GameData directory.
CKAN KERBAL SPACE PROGRAM MODS
Some mods directly distribute the content which should go into the GameData directory, while others distribute the GameData directory in which all new directories are. If the installation technique differs there is usually a more detailed description in the readme, on the Curse page or in the forum's opening post. In general addons are installed into the GameData directory.
CKAN KERBAL SPACE PROGRAM MANUAL
However, some mods may still require manual installation, for which the details are below. Once you've downloaded it, save it somewhere useful (such as My Documents or the Desktop) and open it - it should locate the KSP directory automatically and present you with a list of mods you can install.

The facility has its own wiki and may be downloaded from (The usual caveats about downloading and installing modules from third party sites apply) CKAN shouldn't even be affected by anything in your KSP save files.Usually the easiest way to install addons is to use the CKAN (Comprehensive Kerbal Archive Network) utility, which handles finding and installing mods for you. At worst, you'd be reinstalling a specific mod, or even CKAN itself. And you shouldn't ever have to uninstall KSP for CKAN to work. I'm sort of on the fence about whether to continue trying to use CKAN.Ĭould it be because I played a mission or two with scansat before I used CKAN? Maybe because I earned science with it? I really don't want to have to uninstall KSP and all of my save data in order to use CKAN's version of scansat.

I have noticed (since around 1.0 roughly) that it became less reliable with stuff like this. But I fear this may just end up being a bug on CKAN's end in any case. More detail on what that error said exactly would be nice. I hit refresh and got an error message which was clearly related to something about how I deleted scansat. I followed your advice and tried deleting scansat, but when I relaunched, it was still there. Send us a message with proof, and we'll give you some flair to show it!
